Background and Description
Based in Central Scotland, the Skelpit Lug Ceilidh Band has been around for fifteen years, during which time it has built up a performance expertise which few bands can match.
With a top-class front line of fiddle, accordion and mandolin/banjo, supported by double bass, guitars and bodhran, the band offers a rich variety of sounds from gentle waltzes to rollicking reels and jigs. Add in some wonderful singing and a lot of excellent (and patient!) calling in several languages, and you have a band for all occasions.
Though performing mostly in lowland Scotland, the Lugs have played widely across Scotland and England and abroad. The band has performed in France and Cyprus and band members have also played in Ireland, France, Belgium, Germany and Russia. Wherever they appear, they have always been highly praised for their musical skills, interesting dances and the tremendous atmosphere which they invariably create.
So if you're looking for an experienced group for that wedding, concert, festival, special occasion or corporate event, try the Skelpit Lug Ceilidh Band. Bookings can be tailored from three or four musicians to the full six-piece outfit depending on your needs and the size of venue.

Set List
We play every kind of Scottish traditional and ceilidh music for dancing or concert, and include singing if desired. We don't have a 'typical' set because every event is tailored to the occasion and evolves as it goes along. We never arrive with a pre-determined list of dances or tunes.

“We wanted to write and thank the Skelpit Lugs for the fantastic ceilidh music which you played for us at Glenlivet House on 26th October (2007). The band really got people dancing and everyone commented on how great you were. Despite limited space we managed a wide range of dances, which were well called and had everyone generally going in the right direction ! We very much enjoyed the solo singing during the buffet and breaks. Thanks for working so well to complete a truly memorable evening for our Silver Wedding. We shall be recommending you to anyone planning a ceilidh.“
Sally and Phil Jewson, Leighton Buzzard,

“Just a quick email to say thanks very much for your tolerance and excellent playing at Tess and Mark’s wedding last Friday at Houston House. We’ve been receiving a number of ’thank you’ cards ourselves this week, in which the ceilidh is mentioned frequently and was obviously a highlight of the evening for many !“
