Background and Description

Looking for something to add a real touch of class to your event? The Legacy Jazz Trio create the perfect mood for you and your guests whatever the occasion. So whether you’re enjoying your meal, or just catching up with an old friend over a drink, we can provide the perfect musical backdrop you desire.
Influenced by the great jazz piano trios of the past such as Oscar Peterson, Errol Garner and Bill Evans, and made up from three of the most in demand jazz musicians in Scotland, The Legacy Jazz Trio are friendly, professional, and deliver the highest standard of musical performance.

Piano – Euan Stevenson

Born in Scotland in 1981, Euan Stevenson studied classical piano with Simon Coverdale before moving to Birmingham to study jazz piano with Liam Noble at the Birmingham Conservatoire. He went on to specialise in composition and performance at the University of Birmingham. Now based in Scotland, Euan is much in demand as a sideman for some of Scotland's finest jazz musicians. His reputation as a skillful and sensitive accompanist is growing steadily and singers like BBC Radio Scotland Jazz House presenter Stephen Duffy and the highly acclaimed Todd Gordon have been amongst the many singers who have decided to use Euan as an accompanist of late. An example of Euan's impressive diversity as a pianist was the release in December 2007 of a solo piano album of his own classical compositions, while in the following month, a live BBC Radio Scotland broadcast gave Euan the chance to pay hommage to the great Oscar Peterson, performing transcriptions of Oscar's arrangements from the album We Get Requests.

Bass – Andrew Sharkey

Andrew Sharkey is a familiar face on the Scottish jazz scene. He has performed with many Scottish artists, including singers Todd Gordon and Niki King, pianist Brian Kellock and guitarist Nigel Clark. In 2007, he toured in the U.K. and U.S. with West End hit musical "The Rat Pack". He is also a member of clarsach player Rachel Hair's group and an instrumental tutor at the University of Strathclyde.

Drums – Tom Gordon

Since graduating from the
Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London in 1993, Tom has been a busy freelance player working in a wide variety of musical situations. In 2002 he secured the position as drummer with the BBC Big Band and has played with many world class artistes including film composer Lalo Schifrin, jazz stars Jon Faddis, Joe Lovano and James Morrison, The BBC Concert Orchestra, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Philharmonia Orchestra, The Woody Herman Orchestra, Larry Adler, Claire Sweeney, Lesley Garrett, Tony Hadley, Jamie Cullum and Darius. He also played on many West End shows including Fosse, Witches of Eastwick, Our House and Mary Poppins, and played at many functions and parties with various bands in London’s top hotels, including private parties for Sir Richard Branson, and Earl Spencer and Prince Charles. Tom also played on the Elton John Track “The Heart Of Every Girl” for the film Mona Lisa Smile. He continues to travel to London regularly to work with the BBC Big Band and can be heard on their weekly radio show “Big Band Special”.
